Achieving Success Through Cost-Cutting Solutions

VFA experienced continued success and growth in 2011. We added 35 new customers, including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the City of Buffalo, Florida International University, and the University of Rochester. Today we help over 550 corporate, education, healthcare and government organizations manage over four billion square feet of assets in 35 countries.

In 2011, we continued to enhance our product and service offerings to provide a wider range of assessment solutions to our clients to optimize their resources. VFA now offers facility condition assessment solutions ranging from the self-assessment solution, VFA.auditor®, to our comprehensive detailed facility condition assessment with our highly trained teams of engineers and architects who average more than 20 years of experience in the field. At VFA, we offer a number of solutions designed to cater to the unique portfolio requirements of our clients.

Embracing the guided self-assessment approach, over 25 of our clients have started using VFA.auditor. We have expanded the software this year to support mobile facility data collection on a variety of tablet computers, including Android- and Windows-based tablets and the iPad. Our clients have enjoyed the flexibility this tool offers to maintain accurate and dynamic facility condition data. VFA.auditor is a native addition to VFA.facility®. This means that facility managers can collect data via tablets and have it automatically uploaded to their VFA.facility database, reducing human error and wasted man hours re-entering data. VFA.auditor has also proven to be a cost-effective solution for those clients needing to identify hot spots within their portfolio that require a more detailed assessment.

In this past year, VFA and our clients were once again recognized for our achievements. VFA was named to the Software 500, Software Magazine’s list of the world’s top software and service providers for the 9th consecutive year. VFA also received the Top Products Award from Building Operations and Management Magazine for our work with energy assessment services. For the second year in a row, a VFA client has won the Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) Best Practices in Comprehensive Planning award. Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt was recognized at RPIC’s Annual National Workshop for its leadership in facilities capital planning and management. In addition, the University of Texas at Austin won the Maintenance Solutions Achievement Award for their long-term strategy to gather objective information about facility needs and successfully leverage that information to obtain needed funding.
