Following the conference, a VFA.facility software training session as well as a Capital Budgeting Workshop are available to VFA Connections participants at a discounted rate. The courses will be offered at a training center in downtown Boston, within a short distance of the Royal Sonesta Boston.

VFA.facility: Intensive Refresher

This fast-paced one-day course will provide an overview of the functionality of and concepts behind VFA.facility, including the Asset, Funding, Project, Reports and Import Modules. It will include a discussion of asset data entry and management strategies, as well as a review of data analysis techniques though reporting, ad hoc querying, project planning and funding scenarios.

Prerequisites

Participants should possess basic Internet and Microsoft Windows navigation skills, have previously used Microsoft Word and Excel or similar programs, have an understanding of basic concepts of facility management, and be familiar with cost estimation concepts.

Course fee includes copy of user manual and supplemental materials.

Capital Budgeting Workshop

In this half-day workshop, learn how you can unite the art of collaboration and consensus building with the science of hierarchical decision making to deliver a best-practice approach to capital budgeting. Ensure that capital spending aligns with business priorities and that facility investments are optimized to support long-term goals and objectives.

The workshop will:

  • Provide an overview of Capital Budgeting
  • Review process steps of the engagement
  • Review functionality of Capital Budgeting in VFA.facility
  • Show an example of a Capital Budget and results

Prerequisites
No specific technical knowledge is required; a general understanding of capital budget processes is helpful.
