Saskatoon Health Region Selects VFA for Region-Wide Facility Assessment Initiative
Region Will Deploy VFA Capital Planning and Asset Management Solution to
Track Facility Condition and Develop Long-Term Capital Plans
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA November 6, 2006 VFA Canada Corp., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management, today announced that the Saskatoon Health Region has selected VFA to conduct detailed facility condition assessments in nearly four million square feet of health facilities. Saskatoon Health Region, the largest health region in Saskatchewan servicing nearly 300,000 residents, is responsible for the management of facilities ranging from hospitals and long-term health facilities to community service clinics and mental health and addiction centers.
The Saskatoon Health Region will use VFA's Capital Planning and Management Solution (CPMS™) to obtain a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the condition of healthcare facilities across the region and develop effective long-term plans for capital investment. With a need to justify budgetary funding requests, Saskatoon Health Region engaged VFA to obtain detailed facility condition data on the region's portfolio. The condition data collected by VFA will be input into the VFA.facility® analytic and decision support software enabling Saskatoon Health to create its multi-year capital plans and budgets.
"The facilities we're charged with managing are spread out over the entire region, so it's a challenge to constantly maintain a clear picture of the condition across the entire portfolio," said Grant Sommerfeld, Preservation Program Manager for the Saskatoon Health Region. "We turned to VFA because of their extensive experience in assessing and analyzing healthcare facilities. We will use the VFA solution to develop and prioritize funding for defensible long-term capital plans."
VFA has a long track record of working with Canadian healthcare organizations to improve their long-term maintenance and multi-year capital planning efforts. Organizations including the British Columbia Ministry of Health, The Ottawa Hospital and Eastern Health in Newfoundland have worked with VFA to gather facility condition data, analyze their capital spending needs over the long-term and manage their ongoing investment in capital improvements.
"Based on the extensive work we've done in the healthcare sector and our understanding of the challenges facing these organizations, VFA is able to offer healthcare institutions and their funding bodies a combination of assessment services and software tools that address their unique capital planning needs," said Susan Anson, General Manager of VFA Canada Corp. "This approach will position the Saskatoon Health Region to most effectively prioritize and budget for capital projects going forward."
