VFA Wins FacilityCare Top Product Award For Software Supporting Healthcare Facilities

VFA’s Web-based Decision Support Software Awarded Blue Ribbon for Enrichment of Healthcare Facilities

BOSTON, MA – July 24, 2006 – VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management, today announced that VFA.facility® 7.0 has won first place in the software category of FacilityCare’s Top Product Awards program. VFA’s capital planning and management software was selected from dozens of nominations in the software category by a panel of healthcare industry professionals. The award distinguishes leading new products that contribute to the enrichment of healthcare facilities through their design, operation or maintenance support. FacilityCare editors presented the Top Product Award to VFA at the ASHE Annual Conference earlier this month in Boston.

VFA.facility enables healthcare providers to collect facility asset condition information in a central database and calculate costs associated with both ongoing maintenance and new construction. It allows facility executives to understand the impact of different funding scenarios and create optimal long-term capital plans. Version 7 of VFA.facility, released in March 2006, contains new features including built-in system cost model template libraries, industry-standard cost and lifecycle data, and enhanced planning capabilities.

“We are honored to have VFA.facility selected as FacilityCare magazine’s top software product by a panel of healthcare industry professionals,” said Jerry Kokos, CEO of VFA. “In a highly dynamic and increasingly competitive healthcare market, companies realize that strategic management of their facilities is critical to supporting their long-term objectives. Our solutions assist them in planning capital outlay as part of a multi-year process.”

Hospitals such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New York Presbyterian and Rhode Island Hospital, and government health organizations, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Army Medical Command, are employing VFA solutions to most effectively leverage facility investments and ensure they continue to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

“The tools designers, engineers and facility managers use to create and maintain a healing environment include many innovative new products developed specifically for the healthcare community,” said Susan Helmer, editor of FacilityCare. “FacilityCare’s Top Product Awards program was designed to honor the finest of these new products, and their makers, for their outstanding contributions toward a safe, healing and efficient environment. Our judges succeeded in selecting an impressive set of Top Products for 2006, including VFA’s decision support software, VFA.facility 7.0.”

In recognition of winning this award, VFA.facility 7.0 will be featured in the September issue of FacilityCare magazine. The coverage will also be accessible on the magazine’s Web site at www.facilitycare.com.
