MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IMPLEMENTS VFA’S SOLUTION FOR CAPITAL ASSET PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT

VFA’s Facilities/Infrastructure Certification Program Helps State Agency Gain Consistent Facility Assessment Practices

Boston, MA – May 7, 2003 – VFA, Inc. today announced it has implemented its suite of offerings for strategic capital asset planning and management at the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). As more and more government organizations realize the long-term value of life cycle facility management in today’s tight economic climate, demand in the state and local market for VFA’s enterprise application software, condition assessment methodology and consulting services continues to grow. MoDOT chose VFA to conduct detailed facility condition assessments at 25 administration buildings across the state.

“As with so many government agencies today, we require solid data that unquestionably proves facility needs and prioritizes maintenance projects in order to develop capital plans,” said Chris DeVore, Missouri Department of Transportation. “The level and quality of the data we gained using VFA’s methodology has enabled us to prioritize projects accurately and helped us build a strong case for funding requests.”

MoDOT selected VFA’s capital asset planning and management services and technology to help the agency preserve and protect its existing facilities and capital assets. Using VFA’s scalable assessment methodology, MoDOT gains a consistent approach for gathering facility information. Previously, the department had difficulty achieving consistent assessment results. As a result of VFA’s services, facility data can now be compared across the state’s 10 districts and priority repairs can be accurately identified. This information can then be integrated into capital planning initiatives.

The agency also participated in VFA’s Facility/Infrastructure Certification Program (F/ICP), a course based on VFA’s software and methodology that enables the agency to gain a consistent approach to gathering building data system-wide. Through the F/ICP, MoDOT can standardize on the Company’s facility condition assessment methodology, which is supported by VFA.facility, VFA’s Web-based, enterprise-level software. The certification program is designed to assure accurate, consistent information organization-wide and provides MoDOT with a proven methodology for setting benchmarks, prioritizing projects and developing multi-year budgets.

“We understand that in today’s weak economy, government organizations like the Missouri Department of Transportation, are greatly concerned with facility expenses and deferred maintenance costs. They are seeking cost-effective ways to operate their buildings, achieve strategic asset planning and identify optimal capital investment,” said Jerry Kokos, president and CEO, VFA. “VFA is unique within the industry in offering a certification program that empowers its clients and partners to accomplish these goals using our proven methodology and associated technology.”
