UTD AND VFA ALIGN TO DELIVER COMBINED FACILITY MANAGEMENT VULNERABILITY AND SECURITY PLANNING SERVICES
Relationship Validates Critical Link Between Facility Planning and Security Measures
Boston, MA - December 10, 2002 - In support of the critical need for building owners, property managers and facility professionals to address infrastructure security and building vulnerability, VFA, Inc. today announced its partnership with UTD, Inc., an engineering firm specializing in threat and vulnerability assessments, security and risk analysis, emergency operations and disaster response. More than ever before, vulnerability and risk considerations must be factored into any building capital improvement, renewal and repair project. Through its relationship with UTD, VFA offers customers decision-support tools and strategies for conducting infrastructure and building vulnerability and security-program planning that can be integrated with facility condition assessments and the related analysis of data.
UTD has more than 25 years of experience in supplying technical analysis and field support to numerous government agencies and commercial clients, and provides analysis expertise in risk mitigation, facility operations and security issues. VFAs Capital Planning and Management Solutions (CPMS) software and assessment methodology combined with UTDs services will empower users with the technology and best practices required to fully integrate security planning into their facility management programs. Clients can reduce their risk to both natural and manmade hazards, increase the effectiveness of their personnel and resource protection programs, and have a validated methodology that can be used to comply with insurance and bonding requirements. In addition, the analysis and reports can be used to apply for federal, state, and local infrastructure and equipment grants programs.
Maintaining accurate, reliable information on infrastructure vulnerability and building security is a difficult challenge for building owners and property managers in all industries, from government to corporate to healthcare, said Michael Chipley Ph.D, vice president of business development, UTD, Inc. Incorporating a vulnerability assessment methodology and resulting data into VFAs existing software compliments the services we currently deliver to our clients. Working with VFA, we can provide joint facility condition and vulnerability/physical security assessment services, enabling building owners and managers to gain a clear picture of infrastructure and building vulnerabilities.
As a member of the VFA Alliance Partner Program, UTD has access to VFAs CPMS software and facility condition assessment methodology, which will enable UTD to offer its customers comprehensive facility lifecycle capital planning solutions. Furthermore, UTD and its customers can participate in VFAs Facility/Infrastructure Certification Program (F/ICP), which trains facilities managers on the best-practice condition assessment and capital planning processes necessary for future success in a technologically advanced, information-based environment.
There is an increasing need for facility professionals and security managers to work cooperatively to mitigate infrastructure and building security risk and exposure," said Jerry Kokos, president and CEO, VFA. A vulnerability and physical security assessment capability represents a natural extension of our mission and commitment to offer true lifecycle facility management and planning solutions to our clients. We are pleased to deliver this capability in partnership with such a respected and qualified firm as UTD."
