VFA LAUNCHES VFA.facility5.0

Facility Portfolio Analysis and Planning Software Delivers Measurable Benefits to Facility Executives, CFOs and Building Owners

Boston, MA - September 25, 2002 - VFA, Inc. today announced the release of VVFA.facility 5, the latest version of the Company’s Web-architected enterprise software platform for facility managers, property owners, capital planning professionals and corporate and government oversight groups. VFA.facility 5 delivers greater ease-of-use, enhanced productivity and state-of-the-art security. Deployed in organizations worldwide including federal, state and local government, healthcare, higher education, K-12 and corporate institutions, VFA.facility enables users to accurately and quantitatively evaluate and analyze building condition information as well as develop multi-year capital plans to restore and maintain physical infrastructure at specified levels.

This latest version of VFA.facility adds redesigned menus and navigators for improved organization, clarity and efficiency. New server improvements strengthen the software’s reliability, scalability and performance. Additionally, VFA.facility 5 supports SSL (secure socket layer) technology, an option that enables the safe transfer of sensitive data via the Internet.

New features and benefits of VFA.facility 5 include:

  • Project planner interface, navigation and menu redesign for increased ease-of-use and productivity. This allows for aggregation of “like” building requirements to optimize project creation and mitigate waste;

  • JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) reporting enhancements;

  • Support for Windows XP™

  • Configurable client specific customization of the user interface;

  • “Context memory” functionality that records and recalls precise screen positions from the last user session and among modules;

  • Improved access to R.S. Means™ data including metric information; and

  • Improved performance for upload of CAD drawings and digital photos.

VFA.facility 5 is a valuable tool in our integrated facility management program, providing us with an accurate and readily available database of facility condition and fully embedded, standardized cost information for increased efficiency and robust analytical capability,” said John Bollinger, Project Manager, Boulder Valley School District in Boulder Valley, Colorado. The district, which includes 56 buildings, has implemented VFA.facility to gain a clear understanding of its building conditions institution-wide and to prioritize repair projects, forecast capital spending and develop budget requests. “By linking CAD drawings with the building requirements within the database, we can see immediately where problems lie,” Bollinger said. “Access to up-to-date-maintenance needs combined with the software’s built-in cost data from R.S. Means helps us develop budgets that drill down precisely to the amount of material and labor resources required.”

Because the software is based on the Web, VFA.facility provides corporate and institutional oversight groups the ability to collect information from geographically dispersed facilities at minimal cost. As a result, information can be consolidated and compared easily across their entire portfolios. Facility professionals, finance executives and building owners can quantify and communicate the condition of their facilities to budget authorities and board members as well as defend the renewal and deferred maintenance funding needed to maintain the facilities at the level required by the organization.

“Our clients recognize the value of the robust support for accurate facility condition documentation and multi-year cost modeling that VFA.facility provides,” said Jerry Kokos, president and CEO, VFA. “VFA’s enterprise technology supports our customers’ capital re-investment strategies by documenting their facility conditions and associated capital renewal requirements. With the current release of version 5, these capabilities and features are deployed more powerfully and securely than ever before.”
