Provider of Facilities Capital Planning Software Recognized as One of the World’s Most Successful Software Companies for Seventh Consecutive Year

BOSTON – September 29, 2009 – For the seventh consecutive year, VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and spend management, has been named to the Software 500, Software Magazine’s annual listing of the largest software companies and service suppliers in the world. Record sales and more than 40 new customers in 2008 secured VFA a spot as number 337 on the list.

“VFA’s inclusion in this year’s Software 500 list reflects the growing need for organizations to maintain accurate information about capital assets and effectively leverage this data to conduct strategic capital planning and budgeting,” said Jerry Kokos, president and CEO of VFA, Inc. “VFA is pleased to be included in Software Magazine’s list for the seventh year in a row and we are committed to ongoing innovation in facilities capital planning and management.”

In 2009, VFA announced version 9.0 of its flagship software product, VFA.facility®, that provides organizations in the healthcare, government, education and corporate sectors with a central source of facilities information—as well as business intelligence capabilities, including new reports and dashboards that allow users and executives to easily view key performance indicators about their capital assets. VFA also launched new Energy Assessment Services, helping organizations to identify opportunities to save energy and reduce costs in existing buildings.

The results of this year’s Software 500 list will first appear in the Fall quarterly issue of digital Software Magazine, to be distributed in September. They will also be available online at www.Softwaremag.com.

Recognised for Creating a Unified Facilities Capital Planning Environment

UPDATE: VFA has been given a “Highly commended certificate” by BIFM for its work with BBC.

Reading, U.K.—September 15, 2009 – VFA, Ltd., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and spend management, today announced that it has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) International Investors Awards for FM Excellence in a Major Project. VFA was recognised for working with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to audit and strategically manage its real estate.

In 2008, VFA audited 127 properties across 48 campus sites at the BBC in the United Kingdom and tracked facilities data for the remainder of the estate—a total of about 483 sites and 62,000 square metres. The corporation deployed VFA.facility® capital planning software as a Web-based, central repository of building data to support the collection and management of a wide range of asset information. This repository enabled the creation of a unified planning environment to assist in critical strategic decisions. With all data in one location, it has gained a complete view of its overall portfolio—by campus, asset or system. Using VFA.facility allows tracking of spend and allocation of funds, and the impact on maintenance spend.

“VFA is honored to be recognised for this prestigious award from the British Institute of Facilities Management,” said Jerry Kokos, president and CEO, VFA, Ltd. “The BBC realised early on that organisations that accurately track the condition and value of their assets benefit from knowing the return on their investment in renovation, demolition, repair and maintenance. Through the implementation of a facility capital planning solution, they have been able to prioritise spend according to corporate strategy and the specific operational needs of the organisation, thereby maintaining output and improving customer satisfaction.”

Founded in 1993, the BIFM provides information, education, training and networking services for more than 11,000 members—both individual professionals and organisations. The BIFM International Investors in FM Excellence Awards recognise the innovative ways in which facilities management delivers best practice and adds value to the working environment. Winners will be announced at the BIFM awards ceremony on October 12 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Assessments Identify Opportunities to Reduce Energy Use and Costs in Existing Buildings

BOSTON – August 3, 2009 – VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and spend management, today announced new Energy Assessment Services to identify opportunities to save energy and reduce costs in existing buildings. The new service enables organizations to understand the return on potential energy efficiency investments, establish baseline metrics for tracking energy reductions, make the case for funding energy efficiency projects, and integrate energy efficiency programs into their overall capital plans.

Facilities and major building systems, such as HVAC and lighting, are typically the largest contributors to an organization’s overall energy consumption. VFA’s Energy Assessment Services focus on the key information an organization needs in order to make decisions about energy efficiency investments in existing buildings, including recommended measures for reducing energy consumption and related costs, and justification for project implementation such as detailed project costs, estimated savings and payback periods. It is offered as part of the VFA Green Building Assessment or Facility Condition Assessment or as a standalone service. Coupled with these services and VFA.facility®, VFA’s award-winning capital planning software, the Energy Assessment Services are part of a comprehensive facilities capital plan.

“Organizations need to provide quantifiable returns on their facility capital improvements. Whether the ultimate goal is cost savings, emissions reductions or more sustainable operations, understanding current energy use and potential savings opportunities is essential for everyone from facility managers to executives,” said Lee Kaufman, vice president of professional services, VFA, Inc. “VFA Energy Assessments focus on the key information our customers need to inform their capital plans.”

VFA’s Energy Assessment Services can also work in conjunction with other energy efficiency evaluation mechanisms, including detailed energy audits, to form unique energy conservation solutions—such as enabling ESCOs to provide comprehensive lifecycle management capabilities. VFA also collaborates with engineering and consulting firms that offer services such as in-depth alternative energy sourcing, carbon footprint calculation and offsetting, or systems redesign.

VFA’s Energy Assessment Services are available now. For more information, or to schedule an assessment today, please contact VFA at 800-693-3132 or info@vfa.com.
